IMAP was the exclusive advisor to the owners of the Autotrans group in the sale of 78,34% of shares to Arriva. The transaction was closed in Zagreb on 16 August 2017.
Autotrans Group is the leading inter-city bus transportation company in Croatia. In addition, the Group provides tourist services and manages bus stations in Croatia. The Group has been operating in Croatia for 70 years, and its network of subsidiaries extends from Istria, through the Kvarner Littoral, Gorski Kotar, the Adriatic islands, Slavonia, Lika and Dalmatia.
Arriva Group is part of Deutsche Bahn, and its core activity is the provision of transportation services within Europe. Arriva operates in 14 European countries including Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and the UK.
Arriva has been present on the Croatian market since 2014, when it acquired Panturist. By acquiring Autotrans Group, Arriva arguably becomes the largest inter-city bus transportation company in Croatia, operating a fleet of 600 buses that transports 11.5 million passengers a year and employs more than 1,400 people. Besides that, Arriva manages 27 bus stations/sales outlets, 12 repair work-shops across Croatia, and 15 tourist agencies with a wide network of partners in Croatia and abroad.
The strategic decision to acquire Autotrans Group represents an additional step towards accomplishing and confirming Arriva's mission – becoming the European leader in passenger transport services. Autotrans Group's business, as a new addition to the Arriva Group, is a strong platform for innovations and further development of bus transportation sector in Croatia.
